A Little More About Me

No comments:
Believe it or not, Michael Assured is NOT my real name.  It is a name I assumed when I started using Twitter. As some would say, my Twitter handle is @MichaelAssured. I am also on Facebook at facebook.com/manmitchell
During my life’s journey, I have had the privilege of being a … Christian … a Jamaican … a son … a brother … a friend … a technician, a husband … a father … a pastor … and a teacher … and I am thankful for all.  Still, the journey continues … and I believe the best is yet to come.
I use this blog to share my thoughts and views on a variety of subjects, but especially on topics related to religion and politics, two things I find very interesting and which have impacted my life greatly.  Incidentally, I am one of those irreligious people who just happen to love Christ while disliking religion (even so-called “Christian religion” as practised by so many).
I blog about politics because I want others to avoid mistakes I have made and because I want Jamaica, land that I love, to be the best it can be.  I blog about God and authentic Christianity (and sometimes about Christian religion) because I want others to be able to experience, as I have, the joy that is in Christ.  As Paul said in one of his letters …
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.  2 Corinthians 4:15 (NIV)
Among the sites and blogs I like are:
Tentmaker, Plain Truth Ministries, The Surprising God, Create Your Own Productions, Think Jamaica and TSFMemphis.
I am also the Director of Assured Learning Centre, the main outreach arm of Assured Church in Christ, both of which are present on the internet.

Where From Here?

No comments:
So here you are ... reading my first post on Blogger, ever.  Hopefully, it won't be my last.  Like most persons who piggyback on platforms like Blogger and WordPress, I am hoping to make at least one post per week. The question is where do I go from here? What shall I blog about?

Like most men, I like wine, women and song ... although not necessarily in that order. So I guess I could blog about that, but I also like food and music ... in that order ... so I guess I could blog about that too.  As it turns out, I also like TV shows like Person of Interest and movies like Shawshank Redemption ... so I guess I could blog about those, too.

Now that I think about it, I also like cricket, basketball and football (the one where the players actually use their feet to make contact with the ball) ... although I've grown to football of the American variety, as well ... so those are things I could blog about.

Given that I like all of the above ... I'll probably be blogging about all of them and more. What is Interesting, however, is that I'll probably be blogging, most of all, about two things my parents told me I should never discuss with strangers - Religion and Politics. Given the influences both have had on my life ... and what I see happening around me ... I can hardly think of how it could be otherwise.  Still, I guess all will be revealed in time.  As they say, we shall see what we shall see.

All in all, it should be an interesting year.  I am also hoping it will be happy and prosperous, too ... and not just interesting.

In closing, may this year, 2014, be a year during which we become even more aware of God's mercy and grace, as functions of His great love for us ... and may we respond appropriately.  Godspeed.
